1. Before you install, close all applications currently running on your system—including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows. It is also recommended to temporarily turn off virus protection during the installation process.

2. You must have administrative privileges or be able to validate as an administrator. 

3. Do one of the following:

Windows:

• Insert the DVD in your drive, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the installer does not launch automatically, navigate to the Adobe Flash Professional CS5 folder found at the root level on the DVD and double-click Set-up.exe to start the installation process.

• If you downloaded the software from the web, the installer will self-extract and launch automatically. If the installer does not launch automatically, open the folder, navigate to the Flash Pro CS5 folder, double-click Set-up.exe, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

• Insert the DVD in your drive,navigate to the application folder found at the root level on your disk, double-click Install.app, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

• If you downloaded the software from the web, open the dmg file, navigate to the folder Adobe Flash Professional CS5, double-click Install, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  

4. If you are installing as an upgrade, the installer will check your system to find the valid upgrade product. If it cannot find it, it will ask you to input the serial number of the product being upgraded. You can also install the software in trial, then input your new and previous serial numbers in the serialization screen shown during launch.

Known issues

• On Macintosh, you cannot install to the root of the hard drive.(#BG044824)
• When installing on Vista64, an incorrect default installation location appears.  The application will be installed in the correct location: c:program files(x86). (#BG064131)
• The “Total Size” displayed in the installer Options screen includes space required for components required for the installation but not shown in the component list, so the number may not equal the listed components size. (#BG059229)
• The installation may take 20 minutes to over 1 hour depending on the product and the number of components chosen to be installed.  (#BG050030)

Note: In order to install additional components or reinstall your software after your original installation, you will need access to the original installer (DVD or the download from the web).  Repair is not an available option.

Before you uninstall, close all applications currently running on your system—including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows.

• In Windows XP, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Change/Remove, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
• In Windows Vista and Windows 7, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Programs and Features. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Uninstall, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
• IMPORTANT: Mac OS has uninstall functionality. DO NOT drag applications to the trash to uninstall them. To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the product installer in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers or double-click on the Uninstall alias located in the Application folder. Select Remove Prefences, then Authenticate as an Administrator and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you want to install the product on a different computer, you must first deactivate the software on your computer. To deactivate, choose Help > Deactivate.

Features in trial software

The trial versions of After Effects CS5, Flash Professional CS5, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Soundbooth CS5 do not include some features that depend on software licensed from parties other than Adobe. For example, some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only with the full version of these products. HDV, XDCAM and AVCHD formats and sequence presets are not supported in the trial for both Mac OS and Windows. Adobe Media Encoder export does not include MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MPEG-2 DVD or MPEG-2 Blu-ray as export formats in the trial. The file importer does not recognize file types that are not included in trial mode (such as MPEG and XDCAM files). HDV is not included as a capture format in the Mac OS version of the trial.

Entering a serial number

Enter the serial number for the software you purchased in the serialization screen.The serialization screen will load the first time you launch the application.You can enter a serial number for the application itself or a serial number for any Creative Suite that contains the application. If the product you purchased is one of the Creative Suites, you can enter the serial number in any of the applications contained in the Creative Suite.Other applications installed as part of the same Creative Suite will recognize the new serial number the next time the applications are launched.

Only applications running as a trial will recognize the new serial number.If any of the applications have already been serialized with a different serial number, it will continue to use that serial number until you remove the older serial number using the Help > Deactivate > Deactivate Permanently.Then on the next launch of the application, it will recognize the new serial number.

The serial number you purchased is for the use of the software in a specific language, and will only be accepted by a product installed in that language. Commandos 2.

Volume licensing

Volume licensing customers cannot purchase from a trial directly. However, a volume licensing serial number can be used to serialize all Creative Suite applications, except the Acrobat 9 trial or retail versions that ship with Creative Suite.Acrobat 9 volume licensing software must be purchased from an authorized Adobe licensing center.Please contact your reseller or authorized Adobe licensing center to place an order for a volume license. Before you download, keep your serial number handy. You can find your serial number in your purchase confirmation email, and in your account. Learn how to find your serial number.

Each component has its own serial number. Master Collection has an additional serial number for Color Finesse. If you purchased an upgrade, use a qualifying serial number to complete the installation.

Acrobat in CS5: For Creative Suite 5 only, Acrobat 9 has its own serial number.

If you purchased Creative Suite 5 or 5.5 from Adobe or registered it, you can download it from your account. If you don't see your app, register it first.

The components of Adobe Creative Suite 5 are on multiple DVDs:

• Adobe Creative Suite 5 Application DVD set (multiple discs)
• Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Application DVD (single disc)

(Only in CS5 is Acrobat 9 installed with a separate serial number and installation media. In CS5.5, the Acrobat installation process is incorporated into the installer.)

Note: Discs labeled 'Content' contain optional, nonessential files that are not required to install the product. For example, a Content disc can contain ReadMe files, tutorials, or example files. You can install this content manually by copying it to your hard drive when you want to access the material. Most content can be copied to a location of your choosing. Before you begin, close all applications, including your web browser. Make sure that you have administrative privileges or can validate as an administrator.

Note: You do not need to uninstall any previous version of Creative Suite before installing CS5 or CS5.5.

Insert the Adobe Creative Suite Application DVD 1 into your DVD drive.

Double-click Set-up.exe (Windows) or Install.app (macOS) to begin the installation.

Note: Depending on your AutoPlay settings in Windows, the Set-up.exe file can launch automatically.

Follow the onscreen instructions to install Adobe Creative Suite.

When prompted for a serial number, enter your Adobe Creative Suite serial number and complete the installation.


If prompted, close conflicting processes to complete the installation. See Error 'Close the following applications to continue'.

Most CS5 products come with separate installers for Acrobat 9 Professional. (The Acrobat installers are included in CS5.5. If you are installing CS5.5, skip this section.) If you already have Acrobat 9 Pro installed, either as part of a suite or as a stand-alone application, do not reinstall it. If you're an existing Acrobat 9 Pro user, download and install the most current updates. To check for updates, open Acrobat 9 Pro and choose Help > Check for Updates.

If you have Acrobat 8 or earlier installed on your computer, uninstall it before you install Acrobat 9 Pro. To remove Acrobat, do one of the following:

• Windows XP: Open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Change/Remove, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
• Windows Vista and Windows 7: Open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Programs and Features. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Uninstall/Change, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
• macOS: Run the uninstaller located in the Acrobat Professional folder.

Insert the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Application DVD disc into your DVD drive.
• Windows: Navigate to the root directory of your DVD drive and double-click the Setup.exe file to begin installation. Follow the onscreen instructions to install Acrobat 9 Pro. When prompted for a serial number, enter your Adobe Acrobat 9 serial number and complete the installation.
• macOS: Drag the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro folder into your Applications folder. After the files are copied, launch Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. When prompted, enter your Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro serial number.
